Look up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No it’s…more of the Emmy Winning Summer Long Short Film Festival.
You got it folks… today I’m featuring the man of steel himself, starring in not one, but two shorts produced by Disney Veteran Animator, Robb Pratt.
What Robb has done is create two Superman shorts beautifully rendered in a retro Hollywood style animation. Everything from the music, dialogue and backgrounds captures the look and feel of those classic cartoons from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.
Make sure to watch the credits to get a peak at Robb’s storyboard animations.
Animation is all about capturing the detail, expressing style and telling a story through pictures. Robb has certainly done all of that and more.
You can find out more about Robb Pratt here.
Robb uses a more traditional “cel” animation style where frames are hand drawn and then edited together to form a moving scene as opposed to computer created 3-D characters and animation. This type of traditional animation allows for the creation of highly stylized scenes that 3-D technology at times lacks.
A “cel” styled animation…
A 3D computer styled animation…
So until next time… up, up and away!
Coming soon to The Emmy Winning Summer Film Festival a tale about a boy, a girl and a camera. Or in other words… sometimes the simplest approach is the best approach.
In the meantime be sure to offer your comments and don’t be afraid to tell us what your favorite Internet short films are we’d love to hear from you.
